Dakota Prairie Elementary’s student council recently held two fundraisers—a concession treat sale and a Dippin’ Dots and ice cream sale—to help support someone in their community. Thanks to the generous support of elementary students and staff during the two sale days, the student council raised $280.

The students presented the money to Mack Gardner, a preschooler at Dakota Prairie. Mack’s mom and dad are both currently battling cancer, and the donation will help their family with extra expenses during this difficult time.

The student council plans to hold additional sale days in the future to continue raising money for causes that are important to them and their community.

MaRiley Stephen plans to attend North Dakota State University after graduation to study Marketing, with the goal of pursuing a career in the marketing field.

MaRiley describes herself as humorous, which is evident in her interests. She says she will likely be remembered for watching parody movies during study hall with friends, a memory that also stands out as one of her favorites from high school.

A talented artist, MaRiley is especially proud of earning first place and Best of Show in an art competition, an accomplishment that gave her confidence and encouraged her to share her creativity with others. Her love for art continues in her favorite class, where she enjoys the opportunity to draw and paint.

MaRiley says she most admires her mom, who has taught her the importance of standing up for herself. She also appreciates Ms. McMillin, her favorite teacher, who is always willing to listen and shares her interest in horror movies.

Two quotes that reflect MaRiley’s personality stand out to her. One, “If you have an idea that you genuinely think is great, don’t let some idiot talk you out of it,” by Stan Lee, resonates deeply because she has seen how easily great ideas can be dismissed. She values the reminder that even if an idea doesn’t succeed, it is still worth pursuing and believing in. The second quote, “Dishonor! Dishonor on your whole family! Dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow!” from Mushu in Mulan, highlights her sense of humor and ability to not take life too seriously.

If MaRiley had a theme song that played every time she walked into a room, it would be “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-a-Lot.

With her creativity, confidence, and sense of humor, MaRiley looks forward to bringing her ideas to life in the world of marketing.

Bailey Flaagan plans to attend Bismarck State College after graduation to study Pre-Radiologic Technology, with the goal of becoming a radiology technician.

Bailey describes herself as humorous, a quality that shines through both in and out of the classroom. Says she hopes to be remembered as someone who always worked hard, particularly in sports.

One of Bailey’s favorite high school memories was playing softball alongside her sister, cousin, and best friends, making the experience especially meaningful. Her dedication to the sport is evident in one of her proudest accomplishments - starting varsity softball as a seventh grader, which helped build her confidence and shape her into the player she is today.

Outside of school, Bailey enjoys playing golf, spending time at the lake, and being with friends and family.

Bailey says she most admires her parents, who work hard and consistently show their support by attending every sporting event for her and her sister.

A quote that resonates with her is from Carrie Underwood: “While you’re sitting around thinking about what you can’t change… you better make it count cause you can't get it back.” She values this message as a reminder to make the most of time because it goes by quickly.

If Bailey had a theme song that played every time she walked into a room, it would be “Can’t Turn You Down” by Jon Pardi.

Her favorite coaches are Gus and Savannah, who have always believed in her and encouraged her to succeed, both on and off the field. She also enjoys English class with Ms. Hurst, who makes each day engaging and fun.
