Six girls shadowed a variety of roles at First Care Hospital, where they observed everything from mixing chemo bags to viewing X-rays, assisting with ultrasounds, running the CT scanner, and seeing nursing and PT/OT in action.
Jassy explored her interest in teaching by visiting a larger rural school, shadowing reading groups, preschool, and upper-elementary math, though 1st and 2nd grade stole her heart.
Lily visited Golden Valley Vet, watched lab work and surgeries, and left even more certain she wants to become a large-animal veterinarian.
Such an awesome day of hands-on learning!

NDSU Extension is offering a free book study to all area parents and caregivers! Participants will receive a free copy of The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt at the first session. We will meet for four weeks to discuss why what’s on the screen matters more than the minutes spent, how technology can lead to a rise in anxiety and depression, and how to connect with your kids at any age.
We will meet Mondays starting Nov. 17th, 7pm at the Nelson County Courthouse.
Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins welcome! Register at bit.ly/LakAnxGen

The elementary has planned activities and dress up events in celebration of American Education Week. Please let your child's teacher know ASAP if you are able to attend the breakfast and story time on Wednesday, November 19th.

Winter is coming... soon! Please prepare your child for the weather. Dress warm and drive safely!
Best wishes to the one-act play participants and Coach Johnson on their regional competition in Jamestown on Wednesday!

Mark your calendars; get ready to cheer for the Chargers!
Here are the schedules and Remind codes for boys and girls junior high and high school basketball.

Did you know that reading for 6 minutes a day can reduce stress by 68%?

As part of the district’s ongoing school improvement efforts, we have adopted new schoolwide expectations to guide our students’ learning and behavior: Engage, Empower, and Excel.
These expectations create a common language across all schools and grade levels, helping every student understand what success looks like both in and out of the classroom.
Elementary students drew pictures of what they have been engaged in this fall. Here are a few of those pictures that are decorating our hallways. Watch for more in upcoming Knight Reader editions and on our Dakota Prairie Knights Facebook page.
ENGAGE: We listen. We ask questions. We participate in activities.
