Reality Check: Preparing Students for Real Life!
On November 25th, Tolna hosted the 4th annual Reality Check, an immersive financial literacy event for 10th and 11th graders. Students from six schools participated over two days, selecting careers and using their "paychecks" to manage monthly expenses.
Participants navigated tables for financial counseling, credit cards, student loans, housing, and transportation, tackling real-world decisions such as:
✅ Buying a car and insurance
✅ Choosing between a house or apartment
✅ Managing student loan repayment
✅ Deciding if a second job is necessary
Costs and salaries reflected current North Dakota rates, making this an eye-opening and practical learning experience.
Special thanks to Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Tolna for organizing this valuable event and empowering students to prepare for their financial futures!
