Juniors and seniors had the opportunity to listen to representatives from the Air Force, Army, and Marines this week. Our speakers explained the unique roles of each branch, providing valuable insights into current career and college options. We also learned how quickly one's salary can take off in the military. If any parents/guardians or students would like to explore more, please contact Mr. Martin or Ms. Beckstrom.

Reminder that tonight’s football game has been moved back to start at 7:30. Also, it is senior night. All senior football parents please meet at the crow's nest at 7:10.

Reminder that there is an early out and Parent/Teacher Conferences on Monday, October 14th. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 PM. Conferences are from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Dakota Prairie High School - Petersburg.

Our first month of AR Winners!

Shoutout to a team of amazing 7th graders for helping out the Petersburg Post Office! 🌸 They worked hard trimming flowers and weeds , getting everything ready for the colder weather ahead. A huge thank you to them for their effort. The community truly appreciates your hard work!

💜 Last week, we celebrated Doris Forde Day, an official holiday in Petersburg by mayoral decree! 🎉
We celebrated with a 5K run/walk that all our students participated in, under the most gorgeous weather 🌞🏃♂️🏃♀️.
Mrs. Forde began her career in education in 1977 in Michigan, and has since filled nearly every position, from teacher to principal to tutor. You can hear her smiling "Hi, Honey!" down the hall. She'll give you snacks 🍪, but she won’t hesitate to call your mom when needed! Her no-nonsense encouragement and legendary hugs make her a true one-of-a-kind. DPHS is lucky to have her! 💜

📚 Freshmen English students completed an escape room activity inspired by The Cask of Amontillado. After diving into the dark and mysterious tale, they worked together to solve puzzles and unlock clues. Great teamwork and literary skills on display!

Congratulations to our Knights of the Month!

Tomorrow, our staff and students will get to celebrate Doris Forde Day with a 5k in Petersburg. The walk/run will start at 2:05 and is open to the public. See our previous post for route details. There isn't registration for the event, so show up if you would like to support an awesome person along with the school.
We are going to try to keep the road in front of the school (4th street) clear of vehicles for students to congregate. Please consider parking away from the school.

🏆 Brandi Schock Competes at National Trap Shooting Competition 🏆 In July, Brandi Schock represented Dakota Prairie at the National Trap Shooting Competition, joining over 1,700 talented shooters from across the country! This prestigious event is open only to varsity-level competitors, requiring an impressive average of 18.99/25 clays or higher to qualify. Brandi spent the first two days practicing and participating in various games before stepping into the competition. In the first round, she shot an incredible 89/100 but just missed the cutoff for the finals. While she didn’t advance, we couldn’t be prouder of her performance! Great job, Brandi! 👏🔥 Keep aiming high!

📢 Attention students! Quick reminder about staying safe and respectful during high school games:
🏐 For volleyball: Since there are no quarter breaks or halftime, only leave your seat between games. Avoid leaving between sets unless it's an emergency—it's safer for everyone!
🏀 For basketball: Please stay seated while players are on the floor. You can leave your seat during quarter breaks, halftime, or between games.
🚪 Always wait in the doorway until an adult tells you it's safe to enter. Your cooperation keeps the game safe and enjoyable for everyone.
If you're not following the rules, you may be asked to leave. Your cooperation keeps the game safe and enjoyable for all! Thank you! 👏

🎓 To kick off junior year, our students attended the annual College Fair at LRSC! Prior to the event, they pre-registered and selected three careers that most interested them, giving them a clear focus as they explored their options. This year, NDSU, UND, SDSU, NDSCS, and Northland were popular picks.

Congratulations to Sig and Danica, our 2024 Homecoming 👑 King and Queen! 👑 They embody what it means to be a Knight—hardworking, respectful, and kind. #rolemodels
